We are driven by the love of Christ and a desire to glorify God to provide high-quality, transformational educational opportunities for children and their families living in abject poverty in the Mathare slum of Nairobi, Kenya.
All children and their families in Mathare experience fullness of life, through Christ-centered spiritual, social and economic transformation.
We view each person as beloved, created and loved by God to experience fullness of life. We seek to treat our staff, volunteers, the people we serve, communities where we work, donors and partners with respect and dignity. We celebrate diversity of culture, ethnicity, background and contribution.
We believe the global church is the primary agent for bringing love, peace and reconciliation to a broken world. We partner with the local and global church to fulfill our mission.
We are partners with the people we serve and donors in a shared ministry. We believe in the power of teamwork and seek to collaborate with the church, development organizations, business community and other stakeholders for mutual transformation.
We recognize that the resources we receive are entrusted to us by God and our donors on behalf of the people we serve. We are faithful to the purpose for which resources are given and committed to excellent financial management to bring maximum impact to the children and families we serve.
We believe that the people we serve are the authors of their own development. We seek to express God’s love by offering opportunities for people to meet their needs and build hope-filled, productive futures.
To avoid the pitfalls commonly associated with international aid, it is important to us that programs eventually reach financial sustainability and can operate independently through the local church and community. We work towards sustainability through the purchase of investment properties, the incomes of which are solely used to fund program operational costs.
The foundation of our work is prayer, which directs us and reminds us of our dependence on God for all things. We seek to activate prayer at all levels in our organization as a demonstration of our dependence on God.
