Joan Wacuka – Skill Training Instructor

Joan Wacuka joined the faculty of the Skill Training School in September 2015. Joan is a tutor for the Hair and Beauty Course, specializing in cosmetology, and she quickly integrated into the culture of the department. She has a quiet and unassuming nature - qualities that are an asset to the program.Many of the students enrolled in the Skills Training School never completed primary or secondary education. They are sometimes confounded by new concepts and hesitant to participate in class. Joan has a soothing, creative way of introducing the foundation principles and makes them easy to understand. Her compassionate and gentle encouragement provide a splendid environment for students to blossom and thrive.Joan’s influence on the students is evident to both students and coworkers. The Cosmetology students laud her teaching style and commit to doing their best to make her proud. Her coworkers are happy to call her one of their own.
