A Snapshot of School Break
A Snapshot of School Break

During April the students at Mawewa School are on break between school terms. We recently visited four students to find out what they are doing during the break.

Triza – Class 4

Triza and lil sister

Triza, 10, helps her mother during the break. She pitches in with house chores like laundry and dishes. She also babysits her two little sisters, giving her mother a much needed break!

Ivy – Class 6

Ivy Njoki

Ivy, 12, reports, “Today I helped my mom clean the house. In this photo, I am making a delicious lunch for her - rice and bean stew. This afternoon I am going to read for a while, visit my friends, and return home to help with dinner preparations.”

David and Edgar – Class 8

David and Edgar

David and Edgar’s parents do not want them to be idle on the streets each day, so these 13 year olds attend a morning tutoring program during the break. In the afternoons they help at home with chores and hang out with friends at the local arcade in their neighborhood. They look forward to Saturdays when they meet friends for football matches.
