As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 1 Peter 4:10
Benson MuriithiBenson Muriithi joined our teaching staff in January as a Form 1 (freshman) teacher for the boarding school in Naivasha. Benson was instrumental in getting the boarding school prepared to receive students. He was the Teacher-on-Duty during the opening week and helped the children orient and acclimate to their surroundings.Benson did not always want to be a teacher. In high school, he had an interest in computer science, and then his passion took a turn toward medicine. However, after high school, Benson found his vocational niche while he worked as an untrained teacher. Working during the day, he attended night school in pursuit of a teaching degree. At Kiarugo Secondary School, he got experience teaching history, geography and biology, and as a peer counselor. Eventually, Benson moved to Nairobi to teach at the Mogra Star Academy. He gained additional experience as he taught high school and headed up the sports department. Eventually, he was named headmaster of the academy. Benson has experience as a volunteer with Amnesty International and is passionate about teaching his students about human rights. We are fortunate to have Benson as part of the eduKenya/Mawewa School team. Benson serves in multiple capacities at the boarding school - he is the History and Geography instructor, the boy’s dormitory master, scout leader, and Dean of Studies. He executes his duties cheerfully and with great enthusiasm. We are grateful for Benson - an energetic, outspoken, humorous, and resourceful person, who has become an essential part of the eduKenya team.
