Class One has 24 students, ages 6-7, who differ widely in their talents and abilities. These youngsters are respectful and accepting of each other, which has led to an atmosphere of great affection. Their favorite subject is Christian Religious Education and they do well in science. These youngsters love the increased space for recess at the new school building.The Class One teacher is Ms. Wandera, who joined the Mawewa School in January 2015. Her easy going nature has helped her integrate well with the other staff. She loves the guidance and counselling sessions with her students, where she gets to know the individual children and their needs. Ms. Wandera admires the teacher's and staff’s diligence, teamwork, and the respect they give to the children and their families.Class One Student Highlight

Stacy is a quiet 7 year old who has a positive outlook on life, in spite of a chronic health condition that sometimes requires hospitalization. She lives with her parents, brother, and aunt. Her mother and aunt are casual laborers who struggle to meet the family’s daily needs. Stacy loves being at school where she enjoys two plentiful meals each day.Stacy is a high achieving student, determined to do her best. Her favorite subject is Mathematics and she likes telling short stories about her cat. She loves her teacher and playing hide-and-seek with friends at school. Her favorite solitary pastimes are drawing and reading. Stacy dreams of being a doctor so she can help sick children.
