Anne, Faith, and family[/caption]Our high school students celebrated kin and home cooked meals as they hosted Visiting Day at the Naivasha Boarding School complex. Pauline Ng’ang’a, eduKenya Communication Coordinator in Kenya, recalls her own memories of Visiting Days during boarding school years.
“For many of us…visiting day was the epitome of our existence. This is the one time (we) would get to see family in months, eat a home-cooked meal, show off (our) family to classmates and teachers…and show them around the school. This is also an opportunity to (hear) news of home. On the day, the students would clean the school until it sparkled, and then the waiting would begin...hoping that someone/anyone would come….for every two students who are visited, there is one whose parents won’t be able to attend.”
On Saturday, October 8, the young men and women in the Form 1 class woke up in high spirits and hustled to make their personal spaces fresh and presentable.

The excitement built among the children as the first parent arrived. The joy was palpable as the remaining families trickled in – mothers, fathers, aunts, siblings – bringing with them the aroma of comfort food.

Daisy, Joram, and family[/caption]Some of our youth suffered disappointment over their own family’s absence. But, the strong bond between students saved the day and brightened moods as lonely individuals were invited to join other’s family fun and home-cooked meals.[caption id="attachment_3285" align="aligncenter" width="565"]
