Field Report: February 2025
Field Report: February 2025

My wife and I have an 8-month-old son, and he has recently started babbling. Every time I hear him, I am reminded me of a passage of scripture that we share often, Psalm 8:2, “Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.” Children hold a special place in God’s plan, and we believe they are worthy of investment.

Our Seniors

Our 12th grade/Form 4 students at Chelezo are already preparing for their end of year exams, and we have one final year to invest in these young men and women. At eduKenya, our final transformation milestone is graduation, but believe that is not the only measure of a successful education.

Prayer request: Our first, and most important, milestone is Christ-centered. Please pray that the class of 2025 will experience a Christ-centered senior year in every way.

Investing in Parents

Njenga, our community relations manager, is gifted at building trust and listening to our parents. By doing so, our team is more aware of the real issues our families face, and position ourselves to help where we can. This year, he is planning even more parent meetings at our school to continue the momentum we developed in the previous school year.

Prayer request: For an openness in our parents, that they would be good soil for the truth we share, and for the financial provision to continue hosting them.

Farming Project in Mitaboni, Kenya

We are very grateful because the pump is now installed, which gives us access to abundant water more than 200 meters below ground. With this installed, we are that much closer to a sustainable food supply and revenue generating opportunity.

Prayer request: For wisdom as we plan, and the day we spread seed. In more ways than one, we hope for a plentiful harvest!

Student Competitions

Mawewa will host the other schools in the Grade 6 Christian Religious Education Quiz in our school hall. This allows our children to meet students from other schools, and for teachers to gauge their progress.

Prayer request: For a spirit of hospitality as we host other school children. In addition, that our students would know Biblical truth in their hearts as well as their heads.

On April 11th, we are celebrating our partnership with the Well Coffeehouse in Nashville, TN. If you love coffee, artwork (from our students!), and live music, you will enjoy this event.

LEARN MORE

Our term prayer call returns on April 3rd at 4:30pm EST. There will be a brief devotional, updates from the schools, time to pray for eduKenya’s many efforts.

Full-scale security unleashed as Ruto tours Mathare area - Kenya’s President Ruto visited the slum where eduKenya operates Mawewa Preschool, Mawewa Primary, and our community efforts. Check out a summary of his visit and the photos of the massive crowds that surrounded his motorcade!

Mathare to Millions - From MSN Africa, this story shows how a woman found herself living in Mathare, and how a relatively small gift (and a few cows) can drastically change someone’s life.
