Ann K. was introduced in a story posted one year ago - Meet Ann. She has returned to us for her high school education at the temporary boarding school in Naivasha. She graciously wrote this essay about her experience thus far. Please note that in Kenya, the British form of spelling and punctuation is used.

High School - by Ann K.Since I reported to boarding school, life has changed for me. The weather in Naivasha is very hot during the day, chilly in the evenings, with very, very cold mornings. We have to shower in the morning and even though I am not used to taking cold showers, I cannot bring myself to dislike such a unique and special boarding school. In the first few days of school, my old Mawewa School friends and I spent most of our time talking, playing and praying together. We soon realized that being united with the rest of the students is how we would realize our dreams. We are now one team. The teachers are very friendly towards the students. They are always giving us moral support day in and day out and have enabled me to grow into a God-fearing person. That is why I consider myself very blessed. The fact that we have highly trained teachers makes me happy. I can tell they are because of how they teach, talk to and advise us.Not only have I enjoyed the fantastic, awesome meals offered here, but also the new subjects which I consider excellent and if possible ‘delicious’. Business Studies and History are of most interest to me. In Business, I have already learnt how to budget. As time goes by, I think I will become the best businesswoman from Mawewa School, so watch me! In History, I have enjoyed knowing how people’s actions have affected humankind.I have learnt to be a self-driven girl, and that it should come from my heart, and not driven by my teachers. I, Ann K., need to stand up, speak up, stand out and overcome all peer pressure and negative thinking to succeed in life and fulfill my dreams and all my goals.I thank God for being in such a nice secondary school and I am proud to stand up and say that I am from Mawewa Secondary School. I promise to make Mawewa School shine, and that is my vow!
