Pre-Primary 1 (PP1) was formerly known as the Baby Class and is the entry level grade at Mawewa School; the students are ages 2-3 ½. The class teacher, Mrs. Mwangi, won “Teacher of the Term” at the end of the 1st 2015 school quarter. Mrs. Mwangi, and trained teaching assistant, Ms. Orinda, do a fabulous job inducting the youngest children into school life! The PP1 class has 25 students who find everything new and exciting. These children enjoy learning numbers, singing games, and playing hide-and-seek during recess. Coloring is a favorite class activity because crayons are a luxury in Mathare which most parents cannot afford. Another particular joy for these children is receiving regular meals each day during the school week.PP1 Child highlight

His favorite subject is number work and his favorite books are picture stories. He is quite enamored with playing soccer during Physical Education class.
