Oliver is an 11 year old boy in the Sixth Grade whose favorite subject is Swahili and who wants to be a pilot when he grows up. His favorite activity outside of school is playing soccer. Oliver lives in the Mathare slum with his parents, who are casual laborers working odd jobs to earn under $2 each day.

Oliver shares, "I am thankful to be in school. It is a refuge for me, especially because I am sure to get meals at school when there is no food at home."
