Oliver[/caption]Oliver is 13 and a student in the Mawewa School Class 7. He lives in Mathare with his older sister, who is 15 years old. Their parents live upcountry (central Kenya), to work and support their family. Oliver’s parents pay for the Mathare rent, but in addition to attending high school, his sister does odd jobs to pay for their food, personal/household supplies and clothing.When he is at home, Oliver helps his sister in whatever chores need to be done; however, he also makes time to meet with friends to play soccer. Oliver is a very polite, disciplined and hard working young man. He loves learning Kiswahili and his favorite storybook is Sungura Mpanda Ngazi.Oliver wants to be successful in his life and he believes education is the key to his future.
