August 2014 Prayer Requests
"God shapes the world by prayer. The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil.”
- E. M. Bounds
1. Thank God for a successful school term that ends on August 7. The grace of God and His multifold blessings have been evident to students, staff and parents this term. Pray that they each, in turn, will honor Him with their lives at home and in the community.2. The students live in neighborhoods filled with violence, drug abuse and sexual immorality. Some of them could be victims of unwanted acts and others exposed and tempted. Please ask God to protect and guide the children while they are on this short break from school.3. There will be an inter-house drama competition in school on August 6. This is a wonderful time for the students to discover and nurture their artistic talents. Pray for the students to enjoy themselves as they find expression for their God-given creativity.4. Give thanks for a day care in Mathare, an initiative of eduKenya’s Community Support Ministry (CSM). A CSM member manages the day care, which provides safe shelter for children of Mathare residents while they work. Pray for continued community support and God’s blessings on this much-needed business.5. Please pray for continued funding for the building of a new Kwa Watoto school. As we expand, other children in Mathare will be able to experience the opportunities provided through Christian nurture, education, nutrition and so much more.6. Adult students in the Skills Training Department are taking exams. Pray that they will pass and move on to the next level of training or find success in employment as they graduate from the program.7. The Skills Training Department is available to help Kwa Watoto parents and other Mathare residents find the skill and confidence they need to break out of the cycle of extreme poverty. Pray for God to plant a yearning for opportunity in the hearts of these adults who struggle to care for their families.8. Continue to ask God to guide eduKenya as we continue to search for new income generating activities that allow for the sustainability of our programs in Mathare.
