On July 11, all members of the eduKenya/Kwa Watoto staff were treated to a team building day at the Maasai Ostrich Resort in Kitengela in Kajiado County, south of Mathare. It was a day for motivation, socialization, worship, fun, and a change-of-pace from the Mathare environment. The resort comprises 20 acres of rolling farmland and provides many amenities, including tours, swimming pool, and ostrich/horseback riding.
Broad smiles overflowed as the participants arrived at the farm. The day’s events began around 10 AM and opened with a prayer from Pastor Isaiah Kamau. There was a time of mental calisthenics, followed by physical challenges, such as volleyball and football matches, a fashion show, a delicious lunch buffet and other activities after the meal. The events successfully built staff morale and strengthened relationships. Everyone was happy and satisfied at day end. The retreat closed with group prayer and a word from each participant regarding his or her experience before heading back to Nairobi.
