Robert, 7, is in Class 1 at Mawewa School. At school, he likes to study English and play soccer. At home, Robert is very helpful, doing chores and helping to fetch water on Fridays and Saturdays. Drawing is his favorite pastime, and he aspires to be an artist.
Robert lives in the apartments across from the new Mawewa School.
He enjoyed watching and drawing the construction of the new building, but until opening day, he did not know that the beautiful complex was his school.
On September 1, his mother woke him early and walked him next door. Robert expressed great joy when he realized his good fortune.
Robert likes the clean and beautiful school environment and calls it “smart.” He enjoys the ample space to play and the new kitchen. He is fascinated with the whiteboard and a whiteboard duster in his new classroom.
The staff at Mawewa School and eduKenya, join Robert in his joy over the new school building. We are mindful that God has entrusted us with a gracious blessing. Our prayer is that many more children in the Mathare slum will study within these walls and experience the opportunity that leads transformation and hope!
