eduKenya starts schools. Schools are part of everyday life, they are ordinary. But even in the ordinary, everyday things, we have an extraordinary purpose. To provide the guardrails and guide the children in our care towards a deep knowledge and understanding of Christ's love for them, and a discovery and harnessing of their true potential.
Our new Chelezo High School Form 1 class arrived at our school in Wote, Makueni County in early May. The 19 new learners were accompanied by their parents or guardians on the bus ride to their new school where they underwent our admission process. During admission our teachers and administrators ensured that each new student had brought all their required documents and supplies. Later the same evening our Kenya Director, Ajema Kikuyu-Ngumba, on behalf of the Board Chair and the entire eduKenya Board of Directors, officially welcomed the students to eduKenya’s Chelezo High School.
Orientation began the following day with an interactive discussion around the Mission, Vision, Core Values and Transformation Milestones. This is a critical component of continuing to create a community and building a healthy school culture. All of these events were ordinary for new students at the beginning of their high school journey in Kenya. But in the eduKenya family, our extraordinary purpose, to bring opportunity and transformation to the children of Mathare give new meaning to these ordinary events. Our new class is brimming with untapped potential and we look forward to a wonderful four year journey of transformation with them.
All of God's people are ordinary people who have been made extraordinary by the purpose He has given them. - Oswald Chambers
